Turn, turn, turn!
The seasons change and life keeps going. A few people have asked me recently if everything is still good health-wise. I generally have said yes, because relatively speaking, it is. However, I had a bit of blip on my eosinophilia: At my latest check-up with Dr. Bar-Natan, the labs came back showing my eosinophils elevated

Settling in for the long haul
This summer, I’ve been rescuing kittens in our backyard and recovering from the drama of earlier this year. The kittens were wild but everything is much chiller and calm on the health front. My eosinophilia is practically not a thing anymore, going from 33% of my blood (very high) to almost normal levels in the

Opinions
I saw Dr. Bar-Natan at Weill-Cornell. She had reviewed my file well. She agreed with MSK on most stuff. The differences: I really value transparency in communication with in my doctor. From the published medical research I’ve read about MPNs, the data on the life expectancy question is clear that it could be affected. To

True Detective, Season for-the-rest-of-my-life, Episode it-doesn’t-matter
I made an appointment with Weill-Cornell Silver MPN Center for next Wednesday May 31. I’m nerdily excited to see their system/facilities and opinion. I also received MSK’s most recent appointment summary: They are saying that my eosinophilia is explained through my asthma and it is being controlled by the Breo medication I am taking. I

Positive decline
My eosinophilia has trended downward to a significant extent. The MSK mobile app is pretty great at visualizing that: According to MSK, normal blood composition contains 0-4.9% eosinophils. On my first MSK appointment February 9, eosinophils were 33% of my blood, while three months later May 8 they are 12.3%. Another measure of eosinophil counts

It’s all (un)related
As I’ve stated before, I generally do not believe things happen for a reason (i.e. fate). At the same time, I usually love to find the connection in things. Connectedness is one of my CliftonStrengths top 5. This time, there may be no connection to be found. From the allergist-immunologist this morning: According to the

Keeping my eye on the donut
I’ve had two doctor appointments at MSK recently and not posted about them. I’m no longer in the transformative phase of this, I’m in the tired of it phase. First appointment that went unreported was with Dr. Goldberg who was not ready to move forward on a treatment plan. We basically just reviewed my situation

Some FAQ
Why are you doing the blog and why share your health status? I have never liked hiding my personal situations including health. I’ve been known to be somewhat TMI when it comes to sharing, be it mental health, reproductive health, etc. I also strive to be my authentic self, both personally and professionally, i.e. not

The waiting room
Yesterday, the wait to see Dr. Goldberg was long but the sky was clear. From Floor 14: Leukemia I watched planes land and take off at LaGuardia. I also saw a patient on a stretcher who reminded me of the gravity of why we were there. Good news for me right now. My new fibrosis
