It’s all (un)related

As I’ve stated before, I generally do not believe things happen for a reason (i.e. fate). At the same time, I usually love to find the connection in things. Connectedness is one of my CliftonStrengths top 5.

This time, there may be no connection to be found. From the allergist-immunologist this morning:

diagnosed with a chronic myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN/ET) with CALR mutation. It is not clear if the high eosinophils are being driven by the myeloproliferative neoplasm. It is also possible that she may just have eosinophilic asthma with a concomitant low grade myeloproliferative neoplasm.

According to the new theory, I basically found out about the cancer by accident from my asthma and that’s the end of the story. My eosinophil count was actually lower recently, my breathing is stable with the Breo. Based on this the allergist recommends that I do not need to have the further biologic treatment for eosinophilic asthma discussed prior to this.

I will find out about this theory and the final treatment decision officially from Dr. Goldberg on May 8. I called Weill-Cornell and got the info I need to request my BMB slides be sent from MSK for the second opinion.

It’s good news?
